While we wait for Diablo Immortal, hoping it will arrive while we’re still young or…you know, alive, we can’t help but look for drops of info leaking all over the web. Some are false, some are true, but let’s face it, there is very little gameplay footage for this game available, despite the demo being offered on BlizzCon in 2018 and 2019.
While this year’s festivities were canceled due to the pandemic, still some new info emerged, and we’ve decided to compose this lengthy guide for Diablo Immortal classes, along with confirmed, unconfirmed, leaked, rumored, and otherwise expected things coming our way.
We hope you enjoy, while we will update this and make full guides once the game officially releases if your humble writer doesn’t die of old age by then.
Barbarian Guide
Will Barbarian be what he is in Diablo 3?
Of course, the Barbarian will be back in Diablo Immortal and of course, he is going to wreak havoc as he should. All of the gameplay footage so far shows that he is every bit as the destroyer he is in Diablo 3 or 2 for that matter.
While Blizzard is keeping a tight lid on any info from the game, the skills for many classes are already known and the barbarian was revealed not too long ago. Things may change towards the release, but the rough picture is there – and such a rough one it is.
The Barbarian Lore
A savage wanderer and mighty weapons expert…
“A savage wanderer and mighty weapons expert. Survivors of the disaster that struck Mount Arreat, Barbarians use powerful weapons and brutal attacks to crush any opposition”
Of course, the disaster the description is referring to is the attacks Baal performed against the northern Barbarian lands in Diablo II. After tricking Marius to give him the last Soulstone, Baal killed him and was the last of the remaining Prime Evils.
The invasion of the northern Barbarian tribes began with the city of Sescheron, their capital, and the events lead directly to the Diablo II: Lord of Destruction stage Harrogath, which is located at the base of Mount Arreat. Baal is besieging the city and the lands throughout the expansion, looking for the Worldstone, which would help him prevent the Burning Hells and the High Heavens from consuming the mortal realm. But, in truth, he wants dominion over the mortal realm.
Abilities
The Barbarian will have more skills than it was shown so far…
According to multiple sources, the Barbarian will have more skills than it was shown on Diablo Immortal gameplay footage so far, on the last BlizzCon 2019 and the official showcase. The players will be able to organize skills in the UI as they see fit and the skills will have ranks, of course.
Confirmed abilities for the Barbarian in Diablo Immortal are:
- Ancient Spear
- Furious Charge
- Hammer of the Ancients
- Lacerate
- Throw
- Whirlwind
- Blood and Fury (Ultimate)
Ancient Spear
“Throws a spear that damages and pierces enemies”
This is one of the first things noticed in all Barbarian gameplay Diablo Immortal videos. It is that the Barbarian will be more versatile. He will have this Ancient Spear, what is a ranged attack and it pierces enemies. And, this is not his only ranged attack.
Furious Charge
Using this skill causes the Barbarian to charge through forward, through multiple enemies. The path is determined by the player’s finger swipe and each enemy you hit is damaged and knocked back a short distance.
This would be an invaluable tool for moving around when heaps of enemies are locked in on you and are pursuing. Also, it would probably be a good escape option for when the barbarian is rooted but can still use abilities, provided this one is open for use. And, of course, it is great for dodging projectiles while engaging the enemy at the same time.
Hammer of the Ancients
The barbarian calls forth a mighty, giant hammer and strikes all targets in front of him, in a large circle. The Hammer ability certainly looks powerful and it is again a sort of a mid-ranged attack, in the way that it allows the Barbarian to have some significant distance from his targets.
It is also an AOE ability in its essence because it can hit a significant number of cramped enemies. It is a good option when pursued by multiple enemies. The Barbarian can use Furious Charge to damage enemies and get to a superior position from which he can turn and slam them all down with the Hammer of the Ancient.
Lacerate
The info about this Diablo Immortal ability is currently unavailable, but it is known that it is empowered by the Barbarian’s ultimate – Blood and Fury. The Lacerate ability seems to correspond best with the Diablo 3’s Rend ability the Barbarian has.
In Diablo 3, Rend would make the Barbarian strike all enemies in a wide sweep around him, damage dem heavily, and leave a Bleeding DOT that ticks for a multiplied percentage of the original damage for the next 5 sec. It would potentially be the top DPS ability if so.
Throw
Something Barbarian fans around the world are most excited about is the Throw ability. It would cause the Barbarian to pick up a nearby enemy and throw it at another enemy, with them both receiving damage.
It would potentially be an invaluable tool for combat positioning, disposing of some perhaps more dangerous monsters, and also creating some room for the Barbarian to navigate. However, the toughest monsters and bosses will probably be immune to the Throw effect.
Whirlwind
This is an iconic Barbarian ability, which has made the class what it is today. It causes him to spin with his blades out and deal massive damage continually to all enemies around that his blade’s reach, as he spins.
As far as Diablo Immortal gameplay footage shows, the globes dropping from the enemies can charge some of the Barbarian’s abilities, like Whirlwind, so that he can use them continually as long as there are enemies to slay.
Blood and Fury (Ultimate)
In Diablo Immortal, heroes or characters will have their own ultimate abilities that will be charged overtime (usually by killing enemies). The Barbarian has the Blood and Fury ultimate ability, which upon activation empowers his other statistics and abilities.
Blood and Fury empowers Lacerate ability. It increases its range, enables it to repel enemies, and it also returns a portion of all damage as life steal to the Barbarian. It is unknown at this point if this ultimate empowers any other ability or statistics of the character, but we bet it will not only do this.
As mentioned, Blood and Fury will require a fully charged “super bar” which is displayed next to the basic attack ability in the controls section. The Barbarian charges it by attacking and hitting enemies. It is unknown at this point if there are any more methods to fill it up, but undoubtedly there will be abilities that will interact with this mechanic.
The Unconfirmed Barbarian Abilities in Diablo Immortal
As mentioned, Blizzards is keeping a tight lid on things and they’ve released only small bits of info here and there. The showcase that happened in February did give us a glimpse of the gameplay, the ultimate abilities, and some of the basic abilities for characters, but certainly not all. In fact, according to most respectable sources online, each character will have many more skills than those shown so far.
The Diablo Immortal gameplay footage available for the Barbarian doesn’t show the iconic leap from Diablo II and III. It also doesn’t show the Throw ability, but online sources have confirmed it.
What will be different than Diablo III and II?
So far, from what we’ve seen and from the info available, it appears that the core of the character will be preserved, which is good news for Barbarian fans. However, it appears that the developers at Blizzard have worked on creating a new set of abilities and combinations of those abilities to make it a bit different and new.
For instance, this barbarian in Diablo Immortal seems to command a stronger presence at shorter ranges, with abilities that allow dashing and shifting position quickly, while also moving enemies in desired directions, to set them up for other abilities. The Barbarian in Diablo III was move mobile in longer ranges with the Leap, but he had fewer options to set up perfect combos. We will monitor the situation closely and fill in the gaps as soon as more info is available.
Wizard Guide
Will the Wizard be what he is in Diablo 3 or 2?
The Wizard is coming to Diablo Immortal, like virtually all of the classes from Diablo 3. What is particular for Wizard was that the gameplay footage shown at BlizzCon 2019 was a bit dodgy in this class. There were only glimpses of abilities shown without any explanation, and even later when Blizzard showcased some of the classes in February 2020, they again skipped this character.
But, since then there were many online breakthroughs into the hero, and we now know some of the abilities the Wizard will have in Diablo Immortal, and here are some of them below, along with all other info known or rumored so far about the class. We will also compare some of the stuff with Diablo 3 and 2 since the Wizard is an old school class, present from the beginning of the series.
The Wizard Lore
This Wizard is haughty, sassy, powerful, and maybe a little vain…
“Hailing from Xiansai, this Wizard is haughty, sassy, powerful, and maybe a little vain, uncaring of the risks she undertakes in using her magic”
The official version of the Wizard in Diablo Immortal is a woman, same as in Diablo 3, but you will be able to pick the gender on all classes, so don’t be confused about the official description referring to her as a “she”.
The Wizard hails from Xiansai and, in Diablo III, there are many auto-emotes and comments the wizard makes about her people’s lore. In Xiansai, the people worship a grand total of fifty-nine gods. However, among those, one of the most revered ones is Zei.
Zei is an exalted trickster and travels the world under the guise of a humble merchant. His adventures are the stuff of legend and tales, and they range from practical jokes and ingenious thefts to lurid exploits and some things better left unsaid.
The mentioned Xiansai is located at the farthest northern Sanctuary’s populated areas. It has mountain ranges that are natural arcane depositories. There are many magical artifacts found there, which leads some to believe that the natives are practicing magic there for millennia.
Abilities
Diablo Immortal will also have the ability-changing mechanics, which were runes in Diablo 3…
Since there is different Diablo Immortal gameplay footage available, mostly made at BlizzCon 2019 by people who tried the game, they are somewhat confusing and contain insufficient info. But, they do show the abilities in action, and the most recent footage of the Wizard from 2020 shows that the abilities and the ability icons are changed somewhat recently.
What is also important to note is that it is speculated that Diablo Immortal will also have the ability-changing mechanics, which were runes in Diablo 3. It may not be to the same extent in the mobile version, but it is at this point unclear just how much you will be able to customize your abilities, if at all.
The Legendary Attribute
Some items shown in early gameplay videos are seen to have a Legendary Attribute. These actually change and affect the abilities of the character that has those items equipped and they can change abilities in several ways, from giving them a push back effect, to changing the element, increasing radius, etc…
What is seen in some of the gameplay videos is that you can change the element (damage type) on some of the abilities.
The abilities and their descriptions below are subject to change and are based on online sources, some official and some unofficial.
Confirmed Wizard abilities in Diablo Immortal are:
- Arcane Wind
- Electrocute
- Ice Crystal
- Lightning Nova
- Meteor
- Ray of Frost
- Scorch
Arcane Wind
There is no official ability description for Arcane Wind, but from what we’ve seen in the gameplay footage, it is a short-ranged cone telekinetic ability that pushes enemies back a short distance. Players who tried Diablo Immortal Wizard used it to push enemies away when they are zerging upon them, or simply to set them up for other abilities, like the meteor.
The meteor is aimed at a location and it drops down after a short time, like in Diablo 3, and Arcane Wind helped them set it up perfectly so that the enemies are pushed back into the area where the meteor will land, damaged by the telekinetic push, and they further devastated by the meteor.
Electrocute
There is also no official description for Electrocute, but Wizard’s gameplay videos show that it is a lightning attack, initially targeted at a single enemy, but that it chains to nearby targets as well. We can’t tell for sure if chain lightning is its basic property or if it needs modifications or augmentations of some sort for that.
It is also unknown if the lightning chaining through enemies will also have a CC (crowd control) effect. Some enemies in videos do appear to be briefly stunned, but we can’t tell for sure.
Ice Crystal
When using this ability, an Ice Crystal is placed on the targeted area in the field by the Wizard. Then, the player can tap the ability one more time (within a limited time frame) and the crystal will detonate. Also, hitting the crystal with Ray of Frost will cause it to shatter and send ice shards flying in all directions, dealing damage from the explosion to those near and hitting those further away with shards.
This ability and combo with Ray of Frost was not shown in any gameplay footage, but the most respectable online sources, like Diablo Immortal Fandom, say that this will be the case. So, we have an interesting ability combo that the Wizard can set up alone.
Lightning Nova
Casting Lightning Nova sends out at least 10 balls of lightning into 10 different directions around the Wizard which, after reaching their maximum range, return to the wizard. The Lightning Balls hit enemies each time they pass through. Now, note that they return to the wizard even after moving, so it is possible to set this up to hit the same enemy 2 or even 3 times.
What the official Fandom description of the skill also says is that the Wizard can teleport away after casting Nova, intertwining this ability with Blink from Diablo 3. There is no official confirmation about this and if Blink is in fact going to be a separate ability or a part of this one.
Meteor
As in Diablo 3, Diablo Immortal’s Meteor is a similar ability. The Wizard calls forth a ball of fire that, after a small delay, drops down from the sky to the targeted area and inflicts high damage. This ability is shown to be quite similar to its version in Diablo 3, but it may have customizations of its own here.
Ray of Frost
Using this ability, the Wizard shoots and channels a beam of frost into a targeted direction. Tapping the button once starts the channeling and the wizard is then able to turn and point the ray in any direction, but he/she is unable to move during the channel. Taping the ability again stops the channeling.
As mentioned, Ray of Frost can make an ability combo with the Ice Crystal ability. Hitting the crystal will cause it to shatter and send shards flying to all directions, hitting and damaging enemies, with possible other effects.
The Ray of Frost ability itself will have a cooldown of 0.5 seconds. The damage of the channeled beam will be dealt with every second and it will also chill enemies. Channeling consumes energy, but it is unknown if it also has a starting energy cost. Also, it is unknown if the elemental damage will be changeable.
Scorch
There is sadly no official or even leaked info about the Scorch ability, except for the speculation that there will be one. From what we’ve seen in the Diablo Immortal Wizard gameplay videos, she/he does launch a giant Fireball in a direction, which could be the Scorch ability.
Unconfirmed and Leaked abilities
The most recent gameplay footage labeled “Leaked” shows several other abilities so far not mentioned by any source online or otherwise. Firstly, and most importantly, wizard fans will be delighted to see blink.
Blink is shown as an icon of a humanoid silhouette entering a portal and exiting in another nearby location. It is unknown if the locations can be further apart than from what is seen in the video, but there are charges. The gameplay video shows 3 charges stacked on the Blink ability. Also, it may not be called Blink.
Gameplay Footage also shows a Fireball ability, which is different from the Meteor. The Wizard launches a giant fireball from his/her location into the targeted direction. It hits and damages all enemies it passes through and can have a knockback effect, with possibly more customization options. It also leaves scorched earth in its path that damages enemies who stand in it for a time.
At one point in the most recent Diablo Immortal gameplay footage, the Wizard is seen raising 3 Walls around, as a part of the Fireball ability. The ball of Fire launches in the set direction, while 3 walls spring up from the ground, walling off enemies in front and on the side, while the backside is open for the Wizard to walk away safely.
The Ultimate Ability
The Wizard’s Ultimate Ability is also shown in videos. It also requires charging, which is done by damaging enemies with abilities. After the bar is full, the ultimate ability icon will appear and when tapped, it unleashes an electricity pulse around the Wizard that damages virtually all on the screen.
Once the pulse passes, the Wizard seems to be empowered for a time, casting abilities fasted and with greater potency. The videos show that the Electrocute icon changes and that it is cast much faster with a more devastating effect.
There are bound to be more abilities, combos, and customizations when Diablo Immortal release date is finally here. For now, these are all confirmed and otherwise. Rumored and leaked sources sometimes turn out to be genuine, but sometimes they are just speculation. All in all, we will cover any new info that emerges on the Wizard abilities and gameplay, as we eagerly await for this game to come out.
Demon Hunter Guide
The Confirmed and Unconfirmed Skills and Similarities to Diablo 3 and 2…
Demon Hunter is, of course, coming to Diablo Immortal. Despite the initial negative response by the fans about the game, the upcoming mobile title seems to be picking up its popularity. And, besides the great visual and gameplay mechanics seen so far in gameplay videos, this popularity increase is owed to the fact that the game will feature classic classes.
Blizzard hasn’t released too much info about any hero, Demon Hunter included, but with the gameplay videos available since the first announcement in 2018 and some more that came out in the past two years, we’ve been able to piece together how the class will look. We’ve also found several confirmed abilities, some other rumored, and we’ve compiled them in here.
The Demon Hunter Lore
It’s all for a single goal – destroy demons and their plans, at any cost…
“Driven by revenge, the Demon Hunter has many tools at her disposal, including ranged weapons, traps, and shadow magic. But, it’s all for a single goal – destroy demons and their plans, at any cost”
While the official Fandom lore refers to the class as a “her”, it is confirmed that Diablo Immortal will feature gender choice, so any class can be female or male. It is also confirmed from the gameplay videos that the Demon Hunter auto attacks with its dual-wielding crossbows in a manner that she fires one than the other, and then each 3rd shot she fires them both, dealing extra damage on that basic attack.
While most other heroes (classes) in Diablo’s lore have an intently personal reason why they are set on this adventure, the Demon Hunter’s motivations seem to be primarily hatred and the desire to purge all demons from Sanctuary. She is a dedicated hunter, with no personal emotions standing in the way of her exacting pure, clean, and ruthless vengeance on them.
As a part of the official lore, however, it is known that shadow magic is solely used by Demon Hunters. It is made up of apocryphal magics, which allow the wielders to use darkness as a cloak, to hinder others in their intent, and to slip in and out of shadows as predators hunting their prey. The Assassin class in Diablo 2 and 3 had access to Shadow Disciplines, which are root in shadow magic and enable them abilities of obfuscation and also psychic powers. But, shadow magic does not enable the casting of actual spells.
Demon Hunter Abilities
Abilities confirmed by multiple respectable sources online…
The following list of abilities is confirmed by multiple respectable sources online that are dedicated to amassing Diablo Immortal content and they are also seen to a certain extent in gameplay videos released so far, mainly from BlizzCon 2019 but also more recent material. The abilities are as follows:
- Crossbow Shot
- Daring Swing
- Multishot
- Rain of Vengeance
- Strafe
- Unleash Hatred
- Bullet Rain (Ultimate)
Crossbow Shot
Cooldown: 0 Seconds
“Shoot penetrating arrows for XX damage while moving at reduced speed”
This is Demon Hunter’s basic attack ability and, as mentioned, it has a combo mechanic. When you first start using this ability, the character will first fire a bolt from one crossbow, then the other, and then the 3rd shot will fire bolts from both crossbows at the same time, dealing extra damage.
The Demon Hunter can move while using this ability, but at a slightly reduced speed as the description says, to allow for aiming. The Crossbow Shot ability is also empowered by the ultimate ability, Bullet Rain, and for the duration, it is as follows:
Empowered by Bullet Rain
“Crossbow shot is strengthened for a while. It now fires a volley of multiple arrows and movement speed is increased.”
Daring Swing
“Use a rope to swing to a nearby location, dealing XX damage to enemies along the way while they cannot attack you. Max 2 charges”
This seems to be a main mobility option for the Demon Hunter in Diablo Immortal, mirroring Vault in Diablo 3. But, while Vault was a short-ranged dodge and reposition ability, Daring Swing is this dramatic, long-ranged ability that enables the hero to swing over the battlefield and fire on enemies like in the movies, while being un-targetable.
The Demon Hunter shots an arrow with a rope attached to it, kind of like the Batman uses the grapple gun and then swings. It is, of course, irrelevant if there is something solid above her for the grapple to hook onto. As we’ve seen in the videos, taping the ability’s icon again at any point during the swing will cause the character to release it early, while swinging all the way will end it automatically at the farthest point of the swing.
Multishot
This is an iconic Demon Hunter ability, well known to all of the fans of Diablo 2 and 3, and even people who played Valla in Heroes of the Storm. It is of course based on the Amazon’s skill from Diablo 2. The in-game description is as follows:
“Releases a volley of arrows, hitting all enemies in a large cone (roughly 60 degrees wide and 75 yards long) for Physical damage. Notably, it is not affected by the Missile Dampening affix on Elites”
It is unclear how much the ability can change depending on gear and level. It is also unconfirmed if the Demon Hunter’s abilities will have any combos like the Wizard is confirmed to have with Ray of Frost and Ice Crystal. What is confirmed is that Multishot ability will also have multiple charges, all with separate cooldowns.
Rain of Vengeance
Cooldown: 16 Seconds
“Shower an area with arrows from the sky for several seconds, dealing XX damage continually”
Another trademark Demon Hunter and Amazon’s ability from previous installments of the series, the ability seems to function as a sort of an AOE damage over time, skill. Despite the description saying that it deals with damage continually, it is not channeled.
The character simply fires bolts up into the air and they land shortly to an area, previously determined by the player. One tap of the ability’s icon enters aiming mode with a visual presentation of the area, and then the player swipes the screen with the finger and taps where he wants arrows to land.
Strafe
“Spin rapidly while moving at reduced speed, shooting in all directions, and dealing XX damage. Damage reduced when enemies are struck multiple times. Using this ability slowly consumes its energy, which recovers while the ability is not in use.”
While Strafe is also an iconic Demon Hunter Ability, we see a slight change in its mechanics. Firstly, enemies that are struck multiple times take reduced damage, which is new. Secondly, Strafe now has energy of its own, which is displayed on the screen as an energy bar once you start using it (channeling it). When it runs out, you need to refill to use it again.
But, you do not have to channel it all in one succession. You can only channel Strafe for as long as you need and stopping at any point will cause all the energy left in the bar to remain and you start refilling from that point. Strafe is basically a ranged Whirlwind from the Barbarian class, and it is a must for the Demon Hunter.
Unleash Hatred
Cooldown: 12 Seconds
“Fire a magical bolt of energy that deals XX damage and knocks back enemies. Enemies who hit obstacles will be stunned.”
This is the ability’s description seen in the official Diablo Immortal gameplay videos, so the knockback and stun combo are most likely confirmed. It is also seen that taping the ability brings up a direction arrow, allowing the player to aim it first. Taping it again (most likely) or releasing will fire the actual bolt. It is a giant bolt that hits enemies in a wide path, dealing damage and causing the mentioned effects.
Bullet Rain (Ultimate)
“Crossbow shot is strengthened for a while. It now fires a volley of multiple arrows and movement speed is increased”
It seems that Demon Hunter’s ultimate ability so far only affects her Crossbow Show ability, which is the default Basic Attack. This makes it even more powerful and, instead of slowing the character down, it actually causes the hero to move faster, all the while firing at targets and obliterating enemies.
Unconfirmed and Rumored Abilities
It is at this point unknown to which extent the Demon Hunter’s abilities in Diablo Immortal will be customizable. It is a confirmed fact that items in the upcoming mobile game will have a “Legendary Attribute”.
The Legendary Attribute
Some items shown in early gameplay videos are seen to have a Legendary Attribute. These actually change and affect the abilities of the character that has those items equipped and they can change abilities in several ways, from giving them a push back effect, to changing the element, increasing radius, etc…
It is also unclear if this class will have any of the traps and other utility abilities from Diablo 2 and 3 like the Amazon had.
While there isn’t any Diablo Immortal gameplay video that shows any change in the abilities seen so far, we can speculate that perhaps not all classes work the same and that we will see plenty of unique things for all of them. Each can have its own mechanics and unique tricks. When there’s any new info, we will update our pages regularly.
Monk Guide
Confirmed and Unconfirmed Abilities Coming and Comparison to Diablo 2 & 3
The Monk is coming to Diablo Immortal! That much is certain since the first announcement back in 2018. In fact, this is one of the most revealed classes, compared to the others, as we know many of the monks’ abilities in detail.
And, truly, the monk class in Diablo Immortal will be pretty close to the source, as many of the abilities from Diablo 3 are making a comeback. But, there are many new ones as well, new juicy mechanics we will get the chance to master in the upcoming mobile title. Here is the gist of all known so far about the class.
The Monk Lore
When they would ignite the light of truth, I am their torch…
“The Gods are in all things. And everywhere, I see signs of change. The wind bears an unnatural chill, and my people grow uneasy. Now, the fire burns the sky and scorches the vault of the heavens. I must carry out the will of the Patriarchs. When they need to see, I am their eyes. Where they wish to strike, I am their fist! When they would ignite the light of truth, I am their torch. They have sent me to where the heavenly fire has fallen. My mind is clear. I will rid Tristram of the shambling corpses that have risen in the fire’s wake.”
This is the Monk’s lore from Diablo 3 and, although we know Diablo Immortal happens 2 years later, it is still unknown if the lore is linked in any way. For instance, the necromancer in Diablo Immortal has nothing to do with the necromancer in previous installments of the franchise, but the Monk actually might.
Monks are among the deadliest of warriors in the Sanctuary. This one is of the Sahptev faith, whose followers train their mind and body to become holy warriors of Ivgorod land. Within the Patriarchs, these warriors go through the harshest of trials and training, both physical and spiritual, and their devotion is tested the most, which, if they endure, turns to undying focus in battle.
The Monk class is the embodiment of Ivgorod’s one thousand and one gods.
Abilities
Confirmed, seen, and known abilities for the Monk class…
Confirmed, seen, and known abilities for the Monk class in Diablo Immortal are:
- First of Thunder
- Cyclone Strike / Eye of the Storm
- Exploding Palm
- Flying Kick
- Seven-sided Strike
- Wave Strike
- Imprisoned Fists
- Wave of Light
- Lightning Flux
Fists of Thunder
“Monk’s basic attack, allowing him or her to teleport to a nearby enemy and land 3 hits with his hands, dealing damage on each hit. Cooldown: 0”
This is now already quite the recognizable monk’s ability, having been seen in both Diablo 3 and Heroes of the Storm on Kharazim. It is a great way to engage enemies and navigate the battlefield quickly, pursuing targets and dodging enemy fire at the same time. It is unknown if it can be upgraded to allow the monk to perhaps use other targets as a means to escape.
Cyclone Strike / Eye of the Storm
“The monk focuses energy around himself and pulls all nearby enemies towards himself, dealing damage with a wave of energy. Cooldown: 12 seconds”
This is a new ability, not confirmed by Blizzard but seen in BlizzCon 2019 gameplay videos and it is quite certain coming to the upcoming game. It allows the monk to clump up enemies, setting them up for other ability combos. It is probably even more effective in multiplayer co-op mode.
The only thing unknown is what the ability’s name will be, Cyclone Strike or Eye of the Storm. The known descriptions of both ability names point to a single ability, that pulls enemies towards the monk.
Exploding Palm
“The monk summons energy, which he focuses on the target and deals damage when it encounters an enemy on its way. Additionally, the opponent is marked for a short while, taking increased damage for the duration. Cooldown: 6 seconds”
Another ability unconfirmed by Blizzard for Diablo Immortal but seen in all glory on multiple gameplay videos. The monk sends a wave of energy outward from his palm, that hits all enemies in its way and has possibly some CC effects.
Flying Kick
“Flying Kick propels the monk forward, damaging all in his path. Additionally, it can be a useful skill to escape from enemies, and can even allow the monk to kick off walls.”
According to some sources, this ability hits all in its path and, as it says in the official description, it will allow the monk to bounce off walls. It has a maximum of 3 charges while the cooldown is unknown.
Seven-sided Strike
“The ability allows the monk to teal a large amount of damage in 7 hits to enemies in a medium-sized area. Cooldown: 9 seconds”
This is a well-known ability from Heroes of the Storm and it was seen in Diablo 3 as well. It makes the monk invulnerable, while he quickly hits enemies. It is unknown if the attacks are single or multi-target, but they were single in Hots.
Wave Strike
“The monk fires a ball of AOE energy at a group of opponents. The power focuses in the direction the player chooses and the ball knocks bak enemies and explodes at the end, dealing damage. Cooldown: 9 seconds”
This ability is also seen on Diablo Immortal gameplay videos and confirmed by the official Fandom sources. It may prove an invaluable tool for damage and control of large groups of multiple enemies. This marks the first time this kind of ability is seen in this class and it looks really great, reminding a bit on The Last Airbender or Dragon Ball anime.
Imprisoned Fists
“The monk enters the spiritual world, gaining temporary invulnerability and being able to deal damage to enemies outside, with no risk of getting hurt. It punches the “Spiritual essence” out of enemies”
This ability is confirmed and seen for a couple of seconds on various Diablo Immortal videos. It is really cool and it marks the second ability that makes the monk completely invulnerable while allowing him or her to still damage enemies for the duration.
Wave of Light
“The monk focuses a wave of light that crushes enemies dealing holy damage. The ability works the same way as in Diablo 3”
In Diablo 3, this ability requires level 12 and it is an activated ability. It costs 75 spirits and deals a large amount of Holy damage. It also has a casting delay of 0.3 seconds. It is basically a massive spectral bell that drops right next to the monk. It deals damage in a 10-yard radius circle and it is very potent although expensive skill to use.
Lightning Flux
“Empowers the Fists of Thunder ability by allowing the monk to teleport to new targets and generating a thunderstorm whenever an enemy is defeated.”
Although it does not say, it seems that this will be the Monk’s ultimate ability, since it empowers his or her basic ability. This gives Fists of Thunder the ability to generate a thunderstorm when an enemy is defeated, which would prove great for massive fights.
Speculated and Rumored Abilities
As far as confirmed, seen, and expected abilities for Monk for Diablo Immortal, these mentioned ones are roughly what we may expect. Names might change or some details, but they are expected to remain roughly as is.
However, some others are speculated and those confirmed are certainly not all of the abilities coming for Monk in Diablo Immortal. As far as rumored and speculated abilities go, these are some of them:
Mirror Image
“The ability allows the monk to summon his or her own mirror images, which act like enemy targets during combat”
This ability is not confirmed by Blizzard or by the official fandom, and it is not even seen in gameplay videos, but some sources say it is coming. And, if so, it will definitely be cool. It is also unknown if images will only take damage or also deal if the ability indeed is available.
Leap Attack
Some sites do mention a certain ability titled Leap Attack. It is unknown at this point if this is actually the Flying Kick ability or some other. Perhaps this refers to monk’s ability to bounce off of walls, but we shall see.
Ultimate Skill
Monk’s ultimate skill is mentioned in some sources, not by any particular name but just as an “ultimate”. Those sources say that it will feature the same mechanic as other classes have, which is charging the ability by attacking enemies with other skills.
Once charged to 100%, an ultimate icon will supposedly pop up next to the basic attack icon. Activating it will increase the speed and amount of damage dealt to enemies with the basic attack, I.e. Fists of Thunder.
Some sources also say that it supposedly allows the monk to jump or dash towards enemies, creating an electric charge after eliminating that enemy, which would mean it is the mentioned Lightning Flux. That would be the monk’s ultimate ability in Diablo Immortal if these sources are true.
Whatever the case, this is what is known, speculated, and unknown so far about the Monk class in Diablo Immortal. Gameplay videos spring up occasionally, some showing old and some showing new stuff, so we will be sure to follow it all up and update the page regularly, all the way until the Diablo Immortal release date arrives.
Crusader Guide
The Crusader is coming to Diablo Immortal. It is officially confirmed…
The Crusader is coming to Diablo Immortal. It is officially confirmed ever since BlizzCon 2018 and Blizzard did not change its mind. The game itself has gone through various changes, makeovers, and tweaks, some visuals, and some otherwise. But, the core of the game remains, and that is in large part the classes.
Everyone is delighted that the classes are the same as in Diablo 3. However, the Crusader is the class from Diablo 2. Of course, it was called Paladin then, but the gist of it, including abilities and gameplay style, are pretty much the same.
I wanted to gather all available info so far about the abilities coming for the class in the upcoming Diablo Immortal, compare them to Diablo 2 & 3, and make a list of rumored and unconfirmed stuff as well.
There are only a few officially confirmed Crusader abilities so far, but some more are seen in gameplay videos. It is the least revealed class, but we will have to make due. Here is all I could gather, along with the crusader lore and some interesting stuff.
The Crusader Lore
Armored by faith, driven by duty, bound to kill the enemies of Zakarum…
“At twelve, I swore the oath, leaving home and family. At sixteen, I saw my master die. I took up his shield and his name, and on that day, I became a crusader; armored by faith, driven by duty, bound to kill the enemies of Zakarum. Sworn to live as a crusader, and to die as one. Now, Corruption returns to the hearths of men. I see it in the eyes of the mad, hear it in the howling of the damned. A falling star in the west leads me to the town of New Tristram. The crusade calls me, so I go.”
This is the crusader’s lore from Diablo 3. They are a knight order, devoted to the Light. It is unknown if the crusader in Diablo Immortal will have any relation to this one in terms of story and plot. But, in Diablo, in general, Crusaders are resourceful and resilient knights.
Abilities
They are holy warriors, wielding sacred powers of faith and law…
They are holy warriors, wielding sacred powers of faith and law. On the battlefield, they have warrior abilities, but also prayers and other utility to help them in combat. Here are the 3 abilities known so far:
- Blessed Shield
- Falling Sword
- Sweep Attack
Blessed Shield
“A shield is thrown at enemies, damaging them, and pulling any survivors back to the Crusader.”
This is the first ability showcased for the crusader at BlizzCon 2018 and it is pretty standard. The crusader flings his or her shield forward, hitting enemies. The shield stops mid-air at a certain distance and returns back after a short delay, damaging enemies in its path again.
Those that are not killed by the second returning flight of the shield are also knocked a bit towards the crusader. The shield returns in his or her hand. It is unknown at this point if Blizzard will go a bit further and make the crusader vulnerable while the shield is out or not. It is a provoking thought for sure.
The shield is thrown in a direction where the crusader is facing. Tapping the ability icon will show the direction and the path width, but the shield will be released on the icon release, giving the player some opportunity to aim the throw.
Falling Sword
“A location is targeted and a sword falls to the ground. Activating it a second time causes the Crusader to crash down from above at the site of the sword’s impact. More abilities can be used between the first and second activation.”
Falling Sword is a returning ability from Diablo 3. It had a long 30-second cooldown and was quite costly. It caused the Crusader to launch into the air and come down crashing the enemies in a selected area, dealing massive weapon damage to all caught within.
A similar ability was used in Heroes of the Storm for Johanna, also called Falling Sword. It enabled the hero to leap up and stay in the heavens for a time, remaining invulnerable and untargetable. After Johanna landed, all enemies would take damage and would be stunned and slowed.
In Diablo Immortal crusader gameplay footage showcased so far, when the player taps the ability, the crusader will point at a targeted area and a sword made of holy light will land there, damaging everything in its radius.
The holy light sword remains in that spot for a time and there is a significant time frame during which the crusader can activate it the second time, teleporting there. The animation shows some holy light chains for a brief moment and the crusader damages enemies on arrival as well and uses other abilities in-between.
Sweep Attack
“The Crusader swings a flail around in a circular motion, hitting all enemies in the radius. The ability can be charged to increase its radius”
This is another ability seen from the BlizzCon 2018 gameplay footage. Taping the ability starts the charge up process and the area expands. However, while the area is indeed a 360° circle around the crusader, there is also a cone inside the circle, that indicates the ability effectiveness area.
The effective cone is perhaps 120° in width. All enemies caught in the cone take heavy damage and are knocked back a bit. It is at this point unknown how the charging of the ability will be handled exactly.
Will the player need to tap and hold, or will one tap of the ability icon start the charge, while the other will release the blow. Or, will the ability simply release at the maximum charge point.
This is an upgraded version of a similar ability from Diablo 3, and even Johanna, the crusader from Heroes of the Storm, has a similar ability called Punish that hits all enemies in a cone and slows them significantly. In Diablo 3, the Punish ability increased the Block Chance by a percentage for a few seconds as well.
Unconfirmed, Rumored and Speculated Crusader Abilities
Mounting Ability
The Crusader class is the least revealed of all for the upcoming game. However, all gameplay footage of the crusader so far shows that the hero will definitely have a mount. It will not be used as a means of transportation solely, but in combat only.
In fact, some Diablo Immortal gameplay footage shows that the crusader chains multiple enemies while riding the mount through them, pulling them, damaging them, and damaging others. The ability looks quite cool and ruthless, and I would definitely love to see it in the upcoming mobile game.
It is also unknown if the mount will be used for traveling and for how long it can be channeled. All that the footage shows is that the crusader instantly summons and rides it, without any mounting animation, she or he just switches from running to riding. The riding lasts for a few seconds in the videos and the crusader can also use basic attacks during.
In Diablo 3, the corresponding ability is called Steed Charge and it only allowed the crusader to ride through enemies unhindered for 2 seconds.
Consecration
The official Blizzard Diablo Immortal trailer for Crusader also shows her standing in front of Azmodan and Consecrating the ground beneath her. It is unknown if the ability will make a comeback from Diablo 3.
This active skill in Diablo 3 had a 30-second cooldown and it consecrated the ground in a 20-yard radius around the crusader for 10 seconds. It healed the crusader and all allies for a significant amount every second they stand in it.
Smite
In one brief moment of the Crusader gameplay video shared by Blizzard, the crusader is seen hitting a demon with her sword, while a hammer made of light also appears in one instant. This could be the Sweep Attack ability from Diablo 3.
In Diablo 3, activating this ability causes the crusader to sweep a mystical flail through enemies up to 18 yards away, dealing heavy weapon damage.
These are all of the confirmed, unconfirmed, rumored, seen, and unseen abilities for the crusader class in the upcoming Diablo Immortal game. The crusader is the least revealed, but still, we have enough to form a picture of the core gameplay.
She will be a durable and tough warrior as always, facing enemies down with steel and the Light, using an array of various abilities to damage and CC the enemies, while also helping and protecting herself and her allies. As the Diablo Immortal release date approaches, more is bound to be revealed and we will update info as soon as it’s available.
Necromancer Guide
Confirmed and Unconfirmed Skills Coming and Comparison to Diablo 2 & 3…
The Necromancer is coming to Diablo Immortal.
However, the Necromancer is the class with the least details available or confirmed so far. There is very little known, besides 3 abilities and some basic stuff. For what it is, here’s all of it.
The Necromancer Lore
This is the Great Cycle of Being, and we, the Priests of Rathma, use our dark art to create it…
“All that grows must also wither and die. All dies and rots, and will then nourish the living. This is the Great Cycle of Being, and we, the Priests of Rathma, use our dark art to create it. Though most do not understand us, we go where we are needed. My master has learned that a star fell in the west, drawing the dead from their graves. He commands me to journey to Tristram and return them to their rest. For if the Cycle is not upheld, it would mean the end of all things”
This is the Necromancer’s lore from Diablo 3. It is unknown if the hero’s involvement in Diablo Immortal will be different from the story’s point of view, but he will be involved. And, we say “he”, but it is confirmed that the player will be able to choose the gender in the upcoming game.
As all playable characters in Diablo, the Necromancer is also a nephalem. He is an acolyte and he has no relations to the necromancer from Diablo 2, story-wise. This one is a student of Ordan, the Master Necromancer. When he learned about the Fallen Star in 1985 (which awoken Khanduras’ dead), Ordan ordered his student, the nephalem, to go and ensure that evil does not prevail, despite his unfinished training.
Abilities
There are only 3 abilities known for the Necromancer…
So far, there are only 3 abilities known for the Necromancer in Diablo Immortal:
- Command Skeletons
- Corpse Lance
- Skeletal Spikes
- Ability Descriptions
Command Skeletons
“The Necromancer raises skeletons around him. Afterward, the player selects an area for the skeletons to attack.”
The details about raising skeletons are unknown at this point. What is known is that the ability will raise a certain amount of skeletons nearby. The number of them is probably increasing with the ability level, as is the duration of the skeletons. So far, the Diablo Immortal gameplay footage shows that only skeleton fighters are raised, but the Necromancer will undoubtedly be able to summon other types.
Tapping the ability will use it instantly while selecting the area in which you wish the skeletons to attack will probably be performed with a swipe or another tap. Otherwise, the skeletons will attack the nearest enemy that is close by.
Corpse Lance
“The ability sends a spear of bone at enemies. Corpses are required to summon the required bone to use the spell.”
This is another iconic Necromancer ability, present in the Diablo franchise ever since Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. It functions pretty much the same. You need corpses for bone material and once you have them, you can shoot powerful spears at your enemies. It is unknown if the ability will be augmentable, to make the spear more powerful, pierce enemies, and stuff like that.
What is known and seen in the BlizzCon 2018 Diablo Immortal gameplay footage is that if there are multiple corpses near, a spike will be summoned for each located in a medium area around the necromancer. And, all those spikes will launch at your initial target.
Skeletal Spikes
“Bone spikes rip out of the earth to impale enemies”
The simplest ability with the briefest of descriptions. Taping the icon commences the ability charging, which is indicated with a large arrow that grows outward. The arrow also shows the direction in which the spikes will be fired after taping again or releasing (if it requires tap & hold).
After releasing the spikes, they travel under the earth and impale and knock back all targets in the path.
Unconfirmed and Leaked Abilities
As mentioned, the Necromancer is the character with the least possible available info out there. There are only these 3 abilities seen. However, there was a glimpse at a couple more in the Diablo Immortal trailer, released in 2018.
It is at this point unknown if they were just temporary beta abilities if they are revamped now, after 2 years, or if they will be staying. We’ve also had a glimpse at his ultimate ability, but without any real info, we can only speculate based on the ability’s visuals
The Golem
In the official Diablo Immortal gameplay trailer from 2018, the Necromancer is seen summoning skeletons, targeting them at a certain point, and then also select an area in which, after marking it, a giant golem appears and smashes down on enemies.
The Golem was a pet/familiar in Diablo II, a construct which the Necromancer could have with him at all times. He had stats and abilities of his own and was very powerful. If this ability returns, that would really confirm what I think Blizzard is attempting, and that is to reunite Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 fans in a single game.
Skull Missile
In the mentioned official Diablo Immortal gameplay trailer from 2018, at one point several characters are battling together, to illustrate the multiplayer fuzz Blizzard is bringing us. In that instance, while all are doing their iconic abilities, the Necromancer is standing in the back and channeling some Skull-looking missiles from his hand that are locked onto his target.
Ultimate Ability
The Necromancer’s ultimate ability is only rumored and seen in some screenshots. Its name and its properties are completely unknown so far. If it follows the mechanics most other ultimate abilities from other characters in Diablo Immortal have, then it will have multiple functions, one of which is to empower at least one of the Necromancer’s basic abilities.
When more info is released we will surely update our dear readers with the latest. So far, the Necromancer remains one of Blizzard’s closest and tightly kept secrets. Diablo Immortal is undoubtedly closer now than it ever was, so as soon as we know more we will cover it.
