Besides that, you will encounter several dialogue choices during the story, but these choices do not have any effect on the outcome of the story. In other words, there’s no branching of the storyline.

This story of this book explores the events that happened before the events in Queen Marie main storybook. During the story, we will discover how Queen Marie and Gabrielle met for the first time and all the hardships that their friendship had to overcome, which eventually created a very strong bond between them.

The story begins with Gabrielle being invited to the wedding of Prince Louis and Princess Marie…

A Precious Friend storyline follows the life of Gabrielle, Marie’s closest friend. However, at the very start of the story Gabrielle and Queen Marie didn’t meet, yet and we will have to play a few stages before witnessing their first encounter.

Gabrielle is very worried at the very start of the storyline because she and her husband Jules were invited to the royal wedding, which might sound like a good thing at first. However, their financial situation has seen better days, and Gabrielle thinks that they can’t afford to buy her a new dress. To make matters worse, all of her other dresses are very old and completely outdated. Still, she’s hopeful, since Jules thinks that he might have just enough money to buy her a new dress, and save himself and his wife from public humiliation. Once they reach Bohmer’s shop (another character that should be familiar from the Queen Marie storybook), they realize that they are in even bigger trouble than they thought initially because the prices have gone up several times… This was the short summary of the first stage of the book. How well was it done?

The story represents the forming of the friendship between Gabrielle and Marie, which started the first time they met and grew during the story. Also, the story mentions the controversy of Marie being too close to Gabrielle, insinuating that the two of them were romantically involved, which severely damaged the reputation of the royal family. Also, at some point, we will see that King Louis XVI supported Gabrielle’s friendship with Marie, just like it was recorded historically. However, the story represents Gabrielle de Polignac as a naïve, shy, goodhearted lady of average beauty, unlike her historical representation – a beautiful master manipulator.
