Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Queen Marie Chapter 2 Stage 5 of Dress up Time Princess. Last time, you were invited by the King to his study for a discussion. You talked about the matter of the nobles rebelling against the tax reform. As it seems, quite a few of them refused to pay their taxes, and among them was Gabrielle’s husband, Duke Polignac. What’s worse is that he is the one who banded together with several smaller nobles to rebel against the reform. This came as a shock to you, especially after everything you did for Gabrielle’s family. In the end, you had to choose which of the nobles should get punished first for refusing to pay taxes. Now is the time to continue where you left off. The stage window will display the requirements, a short description, and rewards. Hit Start when you are ready to begin.
During one afternoon, you will stroll through the garden and enjoy the peaceful and quiet atmosphere. You’ll remember that the matter of the taxes should be settled soon. Hopefully, it will solve the country’s finances, and everyone will be able to live better lives.
You’ll spot some blooming roses nearby. Their beauty will instantly draw you towards them. While raising your hand to pull one rose closer to smell it, you will notice a shadowy figure behind the bushes. You’ll take a closer look and assume it’s one of the gardeners. He’ll look startled and confused.
You will smile and thank him for all his hard work. He’ll say it’s an honor to serve. Before long, he will start approaching you with a rose in his hand. That’s when you’ll realize that the man isn’t a gardener at all, but an assassin.
You’ll scream for help as loud as you can and start running. At that very moment, you will spot a familiar figure. The following choice will affect the rest of the stage.
If you choose Fersen, he will quickly get in front of the assassin, and after exchanging a few blows, Fersen will disarm him. The assassin will start running, but he will quickly be apprehended by the guards. Fersen will quickly turn to you and ask if you are all right.
You’ll tell him you’re just scared and thank him for saving your life. Fersen will notice you’re shaking. He will ask you to promise him to bring guards with you from now on whenever you go for a walk in the garden. He’ll dread to think what could’ve happened if he wasn’t there.
You’ll notice the horror and dread in his eyes. Fersen cares deeply for you and would hate losing you. You will lift your head, smile at him, and agree with his proposition.
According to Fersen, this attack was planned. The assassin disguised himself as a gardener and was waiting for you to arrive. Someone is definitely behind all of this. Fersen will ask you to be careful and will decide to go straight to the King to report what happened.
You will smile at him once again and promise not to give anyone else a chance to assassinate you. Fersen will bow graciously before taking his leave. He will take the captured assassin with him, and the guards will escort you back to the palace. Thankfully, you managed to end up unharmed.
If you choose Lafayette, you will notice him patrolling around with a group of guards. You’ll quickly yell at him saying there’s an assassin after you. Lafayette will swiftly rush towards you, and the assassin will start running away as soon as he notices him.
Shortly after, the guards will have the assassin surrounded and captured. Lafayette will bow down and ask if you are all right. You’ll admit you were frightened, but are all right, thanks to his timely intervention.
You’ll notice a lot of worry and concern in his eyes, and he’ll find it hard to conceal it from you. You will suddenly realize how much he cares about you.
He’ll then walk towards the assassin and start interrogating him. After a brief period, he’ll order the guards to take the assassin to the dungeon. You will ask Lafayette if he has any idea why the assassin wanted to have you killed.
By the looks of it, the assassin was hired to kill you, but that’s all he said. Apparently, someone wants you dead. Lafayette will promise to keep you safe and find out who’s the mastermind behind this.
He’ll ask you not to walk around alone until the matter is settled. If possible, it would be best if you wouldn’t go out at all. You will nod and ask him to watch out for the King too since he might also be targeted.
Lafayette will then escort you back to the palace. Thanks to him, you managed to end up unharmed, and you’ll be glad that he was there to protect you from the assassin.
If you choose Louis XVI, you will spot him walking nearby. As soon as he hears you screaming, he will rush to your side, yelling for the guards. The guards will hear him and run towards you, but you will notice they are too far away. You will feel like everything is over, close your eyes, and prepare for the inevitable.
Surprisingly enough, you won’t feel any pain. You will open your eyes and notice Louis XVI standing between you and the assassin. Once you realize what’s going on, you will see that the King has been gravely injured.
Moments later, the guards will arrive, and the assassin will start running. Some of the guards will run after him, while the others surround the King. They will shake their heads as they look at his wound. Louis XVI will ask if you are okay. You’ll reply you are fine, thanks to his intervention.
You will notice that his breathing is becoming weaker, and his eyes starting to dim. He will remind you of a time you became man and wife. He’ll say he promised to accompany and protect you for as long as he lives. He will be glad he fulfilled his promise.
Shortly after, he will take one last look at your face before closing his eyes forever. You will start crying and yelling his name, but your husband will just lay down on the ground, motionless.
At that moment, you will realize how much he loved and cared for you. He gave his own life to protect yours, and there’s no greater sacrifice than that. This will lead to one of the bad endings.
You will spend the next several days in your room, waiting for news. Madam Deniau will be the only source of information, and according to her, the King and Blaisdell are still interrogating the assassin.
Despite being terribly bored, you will eagerly await any further news. Suddenly, you will hear a faint noise outside the window. Could there be another assassin sent after you?
Moments later, a familiar figure will enter the room through the window. It will be none other than d’Eon. You will sigh in relief upon seeing his face. Apparently, he’s been sent by the King to tell you a secret. You’ll scold him for nearly frightening you to death.
He will chuckle and ask if you ever met a secret messenger walking around loudly. While he does have a point on that, you still got pretty startled by d’Eon’s theatrical entrance. He will apologize for that and say he has a gift for you.
As it seems, the assassin refused to say who sent him after you, so the King ordered d’Eon to investigate. He did a bit of research and found out something quite amusing. He’ll hand you an item and ask if you can guess who the mastermind is. The item will look like a family badge.
Just by glancing at it, you will recognize the insignia. You will look at d’Eon in shock while asking if it was the Polignac family. Of all the possible suspects, you never imagined Gabrielle’s family could be the one to send the assassin after you.
Thankfully, d’Eon will inform you that Gabrielle had nothing to do with the assassination attempt. She is as loyal to you as ever. Her husband was the mastermind behind this scheme. Also, the King said that he won’t let Gabrielle get involved in this. You will feel much better upon hearing this. Still, you will be angry at Duke Polignac for orchestrating such a vile scheme.
d’Eon will point out that greed has a strong effect on people and their sense of morality. He’ll say it’s up to you to decide what to do next. But why does he think that Gabrielle’s family is greedy? You will quickly ask him that question.
He will say that he infiltrated the Polignac family mansion, and found piles of gold, gems, and other valuables. Apparently, that is the gift d’Eon was telling you about earlier. You will get infuriated by hearing this. All this time they were lying to you, saying they cannot pay taxes, when in reality they had piles of gold in their possession.
If it weren’t for the assassination attempt and d’Eon’s investigation, who knows how long they would get away with deceiving everyone. Thankfully, once they get exposed, everything should proceed according to plan, and the rebellion should be over.
You will think for a bit upon hearing d’Eon’s suggestion, and you will realize you have to do what’s best for France, even if it will ruin the Polignac family. d’Eon will realize why you are hesitating, and he will remind you that sometimes, sacrifices must be made.
After a lot of internal struggling, you will finally say the word and ask him to handle it. d’Eon will seem very pleased by your decision, and he’ll say that the King will more than likely support it.
Once he leaves the room, you will sit there for a while, thinking of Gabrielle. You will remember the time she made gugelhupf and croissants for you to cheer you up.
Not long after that, the King will send men to the Polignac family’s mansion to conduct a search. Fortunately, they’ll obtain all the evidence needed to sentence them. The King will then summon all the nobles who haven’t paid their taxes. You will also be invited to attend this meeting.
For this occasion, you should wear clothes and accessories with Formal and Noble tags.

After dressing up, you’ll head straight to the King’s study. Upon arriving, you will notice that the people who didn’t pay taxes are causing a lot of commotion over the fines imposed upon them. Lafayette will try to keep order.
Duke Villars and Count Mondego will be two of the loudest protesters. They will make excuse after excuse for not being able to pay their taxes. After noticing their selfish reasoning, you will ask the King for permission to have a few words with them.
Duke Villars will instantly feel insulted by being called selfish, but Louis XVI will quickly shut him up and grant you the right to speak. He will promise to call the guards to maintain order if needed. Upon hearing these words, all of the nobles will suddenly become silent.
You’ll take a look at the nobles and say that from now on, everyone has to pay taxes, regardless of their social status. And anyone unable to do so will get the alternative to pay via hard labor and reduce their taxes that way.
Count Mondego will feel insulted by your words, asking if you’re comparing them to mere peasants. You will calmly point out that the ones who are laboring to provide food are much more respectable than those that only know how to enjoy riches and privileges. You’ll turn to the King and state the obvious.
Louis XVI will ask Lafayette to present the proof of the Polignacs’ tax evasion. Moments later, several people will bring in plenty of wooden chests filled with valuables. Lafayette will point out that the Polignac family has been hoarding the treasure while lying about being unable to pay their taxes.
The King will turn to the nobles and ask if they still insist that they are unable to pay their taxes. Duke Polignac will look as if his entire world just crumbled down, and none of the other nobles will dare say a word.
Louis XVI will then announce he is banishing Duke Polignac from the kingdom. As for the other family members who were unaware of his scheming, they will be allowed to seek forgiveness in the abbey. The King will once again warn the nobles not to go against the law, or they’ll be meeting the same fate.
After a brief moment of silence, one by one, all of the nobles will nod their heads and promise to pay the taxes. Soon enough, the word will spread among the people of how the King has punished the nobles and acted in favor of civilians. Everyone will be impressed and this will earn a huge amount of respect for the royal family.
